Leaving Disability at the Dockside

Day twelve already, and after a few days of seemingly slow progress due to the speed restrictions along the Caledonian Canal, Wetwheels was finally able to open up her engines and power across Loch Ness.

We searched for Nessie, but apart from one blip on the sonar, she remains elusive!

We spent some time admiring the majestic Urquhart Castle before powering on towards Inverness. As we reentered the canal system, we waved at the passengers on the Jacobite Cruisers, who were about to enjoy their own Loch Ness adventure.

With only seven locks between us and the sea, we moored briefly at Caley Cruisers Marina, awaiting our turn at the Muirtown Locks. The marina staff were incredibly generous, donating parts required for a quick repair to one of our motorhomes and providing overnight accommodation for the team—something they don’t usually allow.

After passing through the Clachnaharry Works Lock and Clachnaharry Sea Lock, Wetwheels eventually returned to the open sea.

We moored at the Seaport Marina, waving bon voyage to the Caledonian Canal and all the friends we met and made along the way.

What an incredible journey it has been so far, and we look forward to the adventures that lie ahead back on the open sea!
