Today, Geoff and the boat crew bid farewell to Northern Ireland as they set sail for Oban. They were accompanied by the Sea2It crew, who graciously hosted Wetwheels Foundation Chairman Andy and Operations Director Peter, serving as temporary shore crew for this leg of the journey.
Leaving the North Coast of Northern Ireland behind, the boat navigated northward towards Islay, continued along the coast of Jura, and made a brief stop at Ellenabeich.
Here, we had the pleasure of liaising with Seafari Adventures Oban, who provided invaluable logistical support.
The scenery along the way was truly breathtaking, with the mountainous backdrop signalling the beginning of the Scottish Highlands. We passed numerous secluded crofters’ cottages that looked inviting and charming—places we hope to visit one day.
While the boat made its way through the waters, the shore crew journeyed up from various overnight locations, traversing through England and crossing into Scotland.
Our route offered spectacular views as we skirted the shores of Loch Lomond and Lochawe before descending into Oban.
Reuniting with the boat crew in Oban, we celebrated with a delightful fish meal, savouring the local cuisine. Afterward, we headed to our campsite, setting up just before sunset as the rain began to fall.
The evening was filled with discussions about the upcoming weather and how it might impact the next few days of our passage. Stay tuned to find out more!
Finally we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Seafari Adventures Oban for their support and to all who made this leg of our journey memorable. The teamwork and shared experiences continue to enrich our adventure, making each day special.
