The weather held steady, so we decided to press on to Falmouth. Leaving our friends in Torbay, Geoff, Sam, and James headed out, aiming to visit Eddystone Lighthouse. This lighthouse protects the Eddystone Rocks, an extensive reef approximately 12 miles SSW off Plymouth Sound, one of England’s most important naval harbours, and midway between Lizard Point, Cornwall, and Start Point.
Geoff took the opportunity to cast his fishing rod, hoping for a catch. Unfortunately, the fish weren’t biting today, and they packed up without catching anything — no fish were harmed!
As they approached Falmouth, the team was awestruck by the immense size of the Caribbean Princess cruise liner, which dwarfed Wetwheels with its colossal presence.
Upon arrival in Falmouth, the home of Wetwheels South West, Geoff was greeted by Hits Radio for an interview conducted from the boat. It was a great opportunity to share our journey and the mission of Wetwheels with a broader audience.
Meanwhile, the road crew hit the road once the boat had left the marina. Our journey seemed to take a detour back towards Exeter to reach the A30, before we turned to traverse Bodmin Moors. A light sprinkle of rain accompanied us past the Jamaica Inn, but the sun soon broke through as we descended towards Falmouth.
We arrived at Tregedna Farm Campsite to set up camp before heading to the marina to taxi the boat crew back.
Our night concluded in the fresh air with a delicious meal of roasted chicken, pesto and olive potatoes with salad. Compliments to the chef for an amazing dinner to end a fulfilling day!
We are heading to bed early as we anticipate a long day tomorrow as we prepare to cross the Bristol Channel to Milford Haven.
