Community Testimonials
The transformative effect of Wetwheels South East is best captured in the words of its participants and their families:
- Mark: “What a fantastic opportunity for my child to drive the boat. So relaxed driving the boat one handed; passengers may not have been!
He was disregulated before the boat trip, new place, new activity, worried about what was expected of him. Once he realised it was a boat he engaged. The movement of the boat, the g-force when it went faster, watching the water spray, the flutter of the flag met all of his sensory needs, He was very relaxed for the rest of the day and he was able to have lunch in a new place transitioning with ease.
The staff/volunteers at Wetwheels were amazing. As I have mentioned above transitioning can be very difficult and when I watched them support him with the counting method to encourage him to take a turn driving, I relaxed. They were patient, understanding and treated all on the boat equally. As much as he enjoyed his experience I did too.”
- Juliette: “Wow.We found out sunset .What an amazing Experience watching the sun go down while out at sea.Thank you once again Wetwheels Southeast “
Currently on an Adventure
As Geoff’s very first Wetwheels boat, Wetwheels South East is currently circumnavigating Britain on the ‘Finishing the Dream’ voyage, accompanied by two Directors and the Office Manager. Meanwhile, Wetwheels Solent is maintaining operations at home, ensuring that inclusive maritime adventures continue uninterrupted.
Looking Forward
As Wetwheels South East continues to grow, the vision is to expand their services further throughout Kent, reaching more communities and making the sea accessible to everyone.
Future plans include adding a boat to the fleet and developing new programs to accommodate a wider range of disabilities. Meaning we can deliver further outreach opportunities, which we are excited to start later this year with an extended visit to Eastbourne and a long weekend in Chatham.
